Do my passwords and SSH keys really stay safe?
Yes. They are stored encrypted in your system keychain (the macOS keychain, on Windows via the operating system's data protection) and never leave your device in plain text. The AI, too, only gets redacted context, no raw credentials.
What does abalso AI ssh cost?
The SSH client incl. sync is free forever. Pro (AI with your own keys, Fleet, Audit): €9.99/month or €99.99/year. Plus (additionally abalso AI with 1M tokens/month): €14.99/month or €179.88/year – 7-day free trial without payment details.
Can I use my own AI key (BYOK)?
Yes – from Pro you use your own keys for ChatGPT or Claude. The connection then goes directly from your device to the provider. The abalso AI without your own key is part of Plus.
Where does the abalso AI run?
In Germany: the answers are generated by a language model in the IONOS AI Model Hub in German data centres, on our behalf under Art. 28 GDPR. No transfer to third countries takes place. Details are in the privacy policy.
Does the AI see my terminal contents?
Only a redacted excerpt that's needed for the answer – and only if you use the AI. Without an AI request, no terminal content leaves the device.
Which platforms are supported?
macOS and Windows (direct download with auto-update) plus Android (Google Play). Linux and the iPhone and iPad app are in the works.
How does sync work?
Zero-knowledge: your profiles are encrypted client-side and synced to your own target (SFTP, WebDAV or a local folder). The key stays with you – we have no access to your data.
